Pregnant?
Am I Pregnant?
If you weren’t planning on being pregnant now, a positive result on a pregnancy test could be a shock. Did you take the test because your period is late? A late period is generally the first sign of pregnancy, but there are several reasons your monthly cycle changes. Are you experiencing any other pregnancy symptoms?
Early Pregnancy Symptoms
These are a few of the more common early pregnancy symptoms:
- Swollen, tender breasts
- Fatigue
- Frequent need to urinate
- Nausea with or without vomiting
- Light spotting or cramping
- Food aversions or cravings
- Moodiness
- Bloating
Because every woman and pregnancy is different, symptoms will vary. Some women experience all of them immediately, while others don’t experience any for several months.
Start with no-cost pregnancy testing and ultrasound at Options Women’s Care Center. We use laboratory-quality pregnancy tests, which may be more accurate than the at-home test you took.
Are You Asking Yourself These Questions?
- Now what?
- Where do I go?
- Should I tell someone?
- Who will help me?
These are normal questions when you first discover an unplanned pregnancy. Start with Options Women’s Care Center. Your visit is confidential, and there will be no judgment. You can talk freely and get the answers you need.
There’s A Possibility You Aren’t Pregnant
It’s possible to have the above symptoms and not be pregnant. Your period could be late because of a hormone imbalance, stress, aggressive exercise, or weight change. Tension, anxiety, and depression can cause fatigue, and a urinary tract infection can increase your need to urinate.
A natural miscarriage is a possibility too. About 1/3 to 1/2 of all pregnancies end in miscarriage before a person misses a menstrual period or even knows they are pregnant. About 10 to 20% of people who know they are pregnant will miscarry. Most miscarriages occur early in a pregnancy, but your body takes time to get rid of the pregnancy hormones.
